The University of Tennessee's women's rowing team competed at the Head of the Chattahoochee on Saturday, and once again found success in both the Club 4+ and Club 8+ events.

The Club 4+ boat came into the competition with a record of 57-1 with their only defeat coming at the hands of Duke at the Head of Lake Hartwell on Oct. 14. The team of Erika Twedt, Lauren Kueck, Grace Harrington, Ashley Smith and Kacey Montgomery avenged that defeat, winning the race in a time of 19:06.9 and ran their record to 94-1.

Head coach Lisa Glenn entered two boats in the Club 8+ race and saw UT sweep the top two spots for the second straight regatta. The team of Shannon McMahon, Kueck, Kristen Logan, Smith, Harrington, Erin Moore, Kay Logan, Joyce Kranzke and Tammy Horton glided into first place with a time of 17:22.8.

In the Open 2- race, the team of Moore and Horton were the highest finishers for UT as they placed fifth with a time of 20:51.3. Clocking in with a time of 21:36.0 to take 11th place were Bradley and Sagar.

The Championship 8+ boat of Lizzie Brown, Kueck, Montgomery, Smith, Harrington, Kelsey, Kay Logan, Marie Hanscom and Kristen Logan took home 11th place in a time of 18:01.9.

The Novice 8+ crew of Jenny Oliver, Natalie Fecher, Catherine Angel, Denise Caldwell, Katie Zajac, Liz Humberd, Kelly Hotaling, Davida Lopez and Keri Meslar finished in sixth with a time of 20:09.5.

In Sunday's action, the Varsity 4+ team of McMahon, Hanscom, Kelly Kraiss, Lindsay Sagar and Tori VonderAhe won with a 20:04.3. Right behind them in second with a time of 20:18.3 was the team of Twedt, Kranzke, Kristen Logan, Moore and Kay Logan. Finishing in third to help UT complete the medal sweep was the boat of Brown, Ginny Bradley, Claire Newton, Sally BeVille and Amber Williams in a time of 20:57.0.

The Chattahoochee Chase marks the end of the fall season for the Lady Vol rowing team. Glenn's squad will resume the season on Feb.10, 2001, at the Cincinnati Indoor Rowing Championships.
