With a huge trip to Boston on the horizon, the Tennessee rowing team got off to a solid showing in Chattanooga this weekend, earning top honors in three different races.

On Saturday morning, the Lady Vols' Championship 8+ team (coxswain Lizzie Brown, Kaitlin Bargreen, Nicole Bold, Dana Forbes, McKenzie Craig, Lauren Wells, Chelsea Pemberton, Melissa DiCerbo and Jessica Shreder) captured its event with a winning time of 15:34.16. Coming in second (16:02.49) was Tennessee's "A" boat, which was had Erin Artz as its cox.

In addition to the Championship 8+ dominance, the Lady Vols' abilities were also on display in the Championship 4+ event, as the top three finishers were all from Knoxville. The squad of Brown (cox), Bold, Bargreen, Beth Schwartz and Wells finished first in 16:58.14 and were followed by the crew of Artz (cox), McIntosh, Shreder, Forbes and Pemberton (17:11.43).

Molly Oellerich (cox), Mayberry, Hutcheson, Welsh and Jones teamed up to claim the third-place spot in 17:32.56.

Tennessee swept the Championship 2- event by claiming the top six spots. The tandem of Bold and Wells earned the gold in 18:42.39, while Bargreen and Schwartz (19:17.30) edged out Bagwell and Pemberton (19:21.27) for second.

In Novice 8+ action, UT's "A" boat (coxswain Ashley Butturini, Michelle Tinkler, Heather Hill, Kelly Hoskins, Olivia Marnell, Lindsey Kelly, Kristen Galloway, Steppie Williams and Laura Barton) crossed the line in 18:15.49, good enough for second behind Georgia's top shell.

The Lady Vols will take to the water again next weekend when they travel to Boston to compete in the prestigious Head of the Charles to be held Oct. 18-19. Tennessee will be in search of its third consecutive Club 8+ title at the regatta.
