Tennessee seniors Jordan Bowden and Lamonte Turner were named to a pair of preseason watch lists this week.

Turner, who was named a second-team preseason All-SEC team, was one of the 20 collegiate players added to the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award.

Turner, who played point guard and shooting guard last year for the Vols, averaged 10.9 points and 3.8 assists per game as a redshirt junior. Turner missed nine games due to injury early in the season before returning for the start of SEC play.

Turner’s go-ahead three in the final minute of the SEC tournament semifinal pushed the Vols past rival Kentucky.

Bowden, a Knoxville native, was named to the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year watchlist Tuesday.

The Vol senior spent most of his junior campaign as the Vols’ 6th man, averaging 10.6 points per game while shooting 46 percent from the field.

Both Vols are strong defenders who averaged just under two steals a game last season while helping lead Tennessee to a 31-6 season and a Sweet 16 birth.

Both Turner and Bowden will travel to Birmingham Wednesday for the SEC Basketball Media Day.
