The Vols vs. Kentucky

Tennessee picked up its third receiver commitment of the 2020 class Wednesday when Venice, Florida’s Malachi Wideman flipped his commitment from Florida State to Tennessee.

Wideman had been committed to Florida State since May, but after Willie Taggart was fired Wideman elected not to sign early and to make more visits.

Tennessee hosted Wideman on an official visit the weekend of Jan. 25 and made a strong showing to the blue-chip receiver. It wasn’t an easy finish for the Vols who had to hold off Ole Miss who Wideman visited the weekend leading into signing day.

Wideman ranks as the nation’s 116thbest player and 22ndbest receiver in the 2020 class according to the 247sports composite.

The 6-foot-4, 197 pound receiver ranks as the 19thbest player in the state of Florida.
