A new restaurant located on Market Square, Space Head, has closed just a little over two months after its opening in late June. On Sept. 8, the business posted on their Facebook announcing the closure.
Space Head was owned by Mahasti Vafaie and Scott Partin, who are also owners of the Tomato Head, a well-known and well-loved pizza restaurant in Knoxville.
“The sales at Space Head were not where we wanted them to be and didn't seem to be heading in the right direction. The decision to close was difficult but financially it made the most sense,” Vafaie said. “We are considering different options.”
Despite the sudden closure of the restaurant, Tomato Head does not have an ending in sight.
“Tomato Head has been in business for 29 years and fortunately has a very strong following of dedicated customers,” Vafaie said.
